About the Work of Heart Scholarship

The Work of Heart Healthcare Scholarship consists of 3 - $750 scholarships awarded to AHCU members attending an accredited college, university or trade school.  Area of study does not need to be healthcare.

2023 - 2024 Eligibility Requirements and Information

The scholarships are available to AHCU members who will attend school in the fall of 2024 or current students in an accredited college, university or trade school.  If you are currently attending an accredited college, university or trade school, the funds will be available for your 2024 spring tuition.

If you're not an AHCU member, and are in our field of membership, and would like to apply for the scholarship, it's a breeze to become a member.  It takes about 5 minutes to do it online and AHCU will make your first deposit of $10 into your new Savings Account.  So there is no "out-of-pocket" money for you to apply. 

On our online membership application, underneath the boxes where you type in your name, there is a box that says "Are You Applying For An AHCU Scholarship?".  Click on the drop-down arrow and select "Yes".  Upon a successful application, we will deposit the first $10 into your Savings Account, making you a member and eligible to apply for the scholarship(s).

Application Deadline

Applications will be accepted September 1, 2023, through October 31, 2023, 11:59 pm CST.

Scholarship Selection Process

Submissions are reviewed and selected by the credit union. The credit union assesses each application according to the quality, thoughtfulness, creativity, and relevance of their response. 

Winning applicants must:

  • Provide verification of enrollment at an accredited college, university, or trade school.
  • Must be a member of Associated Healthcare Credit Union.
  • Must provide their school ID number upon winning as the check will be sent directly to their school.
  • Additionally, the winning applicant must provide a photo and brief biography to be displayed at
