Certificates of Deposit (CD) offer many benefits to a variety of investors.

Low investment to earn a higher return. Standard-term CDs (6 months, 12 months, 18 months, etc.) start with just a minimum deposit of $1,000. While CD specials offer higher rates of return with a larger minimum deposit.

Fixed Interest Rates: CDs offer a fixed interest rate for the entire term of the investment. This provides predictability and stability for investors who want to lock in a guaranteed return.

Safety: CDs are considered low-risk investments. The funds invested in CDs are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) for credit unions, up to $250,000 providing a level of protection against the loss of principal.

Other benefits of Certificates of Deposit include:

  • Fixed rates, higher than standard savings
  • Provides a guaranteed return that can serve as a hedge to other investments
  • A wide range of terms available (from 6 months to 5 years)
  • No setup or maintenance fees
  • Earned dividends may be deposited into the AHCU account of choice
  • Early withdrawals are subject to penalty1
  • $1,000 minimum deposit to open2
  • Federally insured by NCUA up to $250,000
